What to expect when attending our Clinic
New Patient/ Consultation/Examination
When a new patient consults us, they will be welcomed by one of our Clinic Assistants (CA) and asked to complete forms and a confidential case history questionnaire. Following this they will be shown a 10 minute video giving an explanatory introduction to chiropractic. Thereafter the patient will meet their doctor who will discuss the examination procedures, take a detailed case history and complete a thorough orthopaedic, neurological and physical examination. Where required, X-ray films and other laboratory tests will be carried out in order to make a comprehensive diagnosis.
Report of Findings and Subsequent Treatment Visits
On the subsequent visit to the clinic, the patient (accompanied by their partner/spouse/friend or family member to give them support) will be given a Report of Findings (ROF) detailing all the examination results. They will be advised as to whether chiropractic can help them, how long it will take and an outline of fees. The initial examination and the Report of Findings may take up to 40 minutes each; however the subsequent treatment visits take around 4 to 8 minutes for chiropractic adjustments (specific chiropractic manipulation) to be carried out. Initially the visits will be closer together through the "initial" or "intensive" phase of care and somewhat longer intervals during the "correction" or "stabilisation" phase. Progress checks are carried out on each patient every 12 or so visits, to allow the doctor to objectively ascertain the progress being made.
The chiropractic adjustment is not painful, but it may be slightly uncomfortable. Occasionally and in some instances the patient may feel a little stiff or sore later that day or the next. This is usually short lived and is due to the body's reaction and early attempts to stabilise itself, this is a good sign.
If a prospective patient is unsure whether chiropractic is appropriate for them, we have the provision to arrange a 10 minute discussion with one of our chiropractors at no cost to that person.
Back to Health Class
We hold regular back to health classes which all our patients are expected to attend, and to which they are encouraged to bring family members and friends. These classes are designed to support and educate our patients to understand the principles and practice of chiropractic in order to help recovery, attain and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Advantages of Multiple Practices
Having multiple practices is of a great advantage to all our practitioners and therefore to our patients.
Where we have a difficult or complex case, cross referral or a second opinion is readily available, and one of our additional assets is having practitioners who have graduated from colleges in other countries giving to our clinic a diversity of knowledge and experience.
We encourage attendance at seminars in the UK and overseas. In addition with regular meetings and talks within the practice professional development is enhanced.
